Mohamed Rida Derder Senior Africa Counsel

Mohamed Rida Derder is the Senior Africa Counsel at IGSD. He is an international lawyer and advisor on environmental law and policy to governments and organizations. He specializes in ozone protection and fast mitigation solutions to the climate crisis.

Prior to IGSD, Mohamed Rida worked for the International Network for Environmental Compliance & Enforcement (INECE), where he was instrumental in the development of the Network for Environmental Compliance & Enforcement in the Maghreb region (NECEMA). He also managed INECE’s participation in planning and coordinating environmental capacity-building workshops through the State Department’s Middle East Partnership Initiative and served as an advisor to the UNFCCC and Montreal Protocol for various African countries.

Mohamed Rida holds an LL.M. degree from American University Washington College of Law, in Washington, DC. He is a native Arabic and French speaker and is fluent in English.
