
Fielding Burnette is a Law Fellow at IGSD focusing on fast-acting climate mitigation including through the development of mandatory methane regulatory frameworks.
Prior to his current role, Fielding gained international experience as a legal intern with several French NGOs addressing environmental impacts of mineral extraction. In the United States, he interned with IGSD as well as the Center for International Environmental Law and EarthRights International, where he worked on corporate accountability matters. His earlier professional experience includes toxic tort litigation at a private firm, development finance at a government agency, and academic research under the guidance of Professor David Hunter.
Fielding holds a J.D. from American University Washington College of Law, where he was a Capital Merit Scholar, an Environmental Justice Community Lawyering Fellow, and a Moot Court competitor. He also earned two master’s degrees in International and European Law, with a concentration in International Commercial Law, from Université Paris Nanterre. He received his B.A. in Francophone Cultural Studies, with minors in German and Economics, from the University of Puget Sound, completing studies in Washington, Senegal, and Germany. Fielding speaks English and French.
