
Trina Chiemi is a Research Associate at IGSD and a founding co-chair of the Fast Action on Climate to Ensure Intergenerational Justice (FACE Intergenerational Justice) initiative. Their research focuses on using law and policy to ensure intergenerational climate justice, particularly through near-term climate mitigation. Trina is leading FACE’s youth amicus campaign before the Inter-American Court of Human Rights on its advisory opinion request on the Climate Emergency and Human Rights. They are also a part of YOUNGO’s policy team and helped coordinate the 2023 Global Youth Statement.
Trina holds B.A.s in Political Science and Peace, War & Defense from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a joint minor with Duke University in Politics, Philosophy & Economics. Currently, they are a J.D. candidate at Vermont Law & Graduate School. Trina is fluent in Japanese and English.
