New Handbook of Best Practices: Room Air Conditioner Installation for the Lowest Carbon Footprint

/

27 February 2025 - The Center for Environmental Energy Engineering (CEEE) at University of Maryland, the Climate & Clean Air Coalition (CCAC), Centro Studi Galileo, and the Institute for Governance & Sustainable Development (IGSD) released an open-source handbook that explains how to appropriately install high-efficiency room air conditioners for the highest energy efficiency and lowest carbon footprint over the products’ lifetime. The Handbook is available here.

Authors welcome edits and additions which will be taken on board for subsequent editions as the handbook is improved and made available for translation to other languages. For example, experts will want to provide wisdom and know-how for special circumstances such as high sand and dust contamination and corrosion caused by salt from sea spray.

This open access publication is available to the public for free online. Available under a free Creative Commons license that allows sharing, usage, and building upon the original and updated work.
